Rosie Perez
Rosie Perez, born Rosa Maria Perez on September 6, 1964, is an American choreographer and actress. Her breakthrough role as Tina in Do the Right Thing (1989) was followed by White Men Can't jump (1992). Perez's performance in Fearless (1993) earned her an award nomination for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress as well as other awards. Her most prominent film roles include It Could Happen to You (1994), The Road to El Dorado (2000), Pineapple Express (2008) and Birds of Prey (2020).
Perez received three Primetime Emmy Award nominations (in 1990-1994) as well as an Emmy Award nomination for her role as The Flight Attendant (2020-2024). She has appeared on stage in Broadway productions, including The Ritz, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune. She was also a co-host on the ABC talk show The View during the series the 18th season.
Childhood and early life
Perez was born September 6 1964 in Brooklyn to Lydia Perez (a merchant mariner seaman) and Ismael Serano (a Bushwick neighborhood resident). Her mother was married to a man twenty years her senior, Arturo Perez. Following an affair with the father of Serrano Perez's mother been blessed with five kids. Perez was born at the now defunct Greenpoint Hospital in Brooklyn's Greenpoint neighborhood.
Perez is among the ten kids her mother gave birth to. Rosie as well as her siblings grew up in Bushwick and their mother was in and out of jail. The mother of her child was jailed when she had the birth of her first child. While she was in prison she was taken care of by an aunt. After that, she was placed in foster homes and group homes. Her siblings and she were frequently split. Then she was moved to a group foster home , and resided in foster care within New York and Peekskill until age eight. When she reached the age of 12, she was legaly considered as a ward of New York. Aunt and mother often visited her, and her father failed to take custody of her at one point.
